About Pt Geetesh Mishra
Panditji is an A-grade vocalist of All India Radio and Doordarshan for 10 years.
A Professional and Experienced Lead Vocals Teacher
Having had a humble beginning, Pt. Geetesh Mishra ji inherited a great, over 300 years old legacy of Banaras Gharana, from his guru (also his father), Pt. Mahesh Prasad Mishra ji, a well-known vocalist and sarangi-player.
Although it is highly pertinent to be aware of those musical heritage as an assets, it is also essential to develop one’s own style. Therefore, what is eventually going to remain is what one has done as a musician and not for who one is. And, this is exactly what Pt. ji believes in. He has created his own identity while experimenting with new age instruments and acceptance by the audience. He believes that each artist has to gradually evolve with age and time. One will always have the blessings and guidance of his/her gurus but it takes the maximum effort to sustain that energy.
As classical music is highly vast, and learning is a life-long journey, apart from learning from his father, Pt. Geetesh Mishra ji also learnt nuances of classical music from various well-known vocalists such as Pt. Kumar Prasad Mukherjee, Pt. Ramashray Jha Ramrang, Pt. Jagdeesh Prasad, Pt. M. R. Gautam, and Ustad Shafi Ahmad Khan.
Pt. Geetesh Mishra ji is an Indian classical music maestro specialising in Khayal, Tarana, Thumri, Tappa, Dadra, and Bhajan genres.
